New nursing standard will improve care quality and safety
Nurses play a crucial role in people’s care across a wide range of care settings, and nursing documentation is an important source of information about patients’ health and care needs.
The PRSB’s Nursing Care Needs Standard aims to improve the quality and safety of care in key nurse-led areas, including care planning. It reflects best practice and standardises documentation across different nursing settings, to free nurses and give them more time to care and help people avoid having to ‘tell their story’ repeatedly.
OnePlan, InterSystems and KareInn have joined the PRSB’s Standards partnership scheme. We are looking forward to achieving our common goal of interoperability and integrated care through the adoption of information standards.

Improved data collection will help shorten waiting times for mental health services
Improving access to mental health services is critically important to the nation’s wellbeing. Working with the NHS, we have developed a consistent way of recording people’s waiting time data, using coded reference sets, so that we can have a clearer picture of waiting times, plan services better and improve people’s care and outcomes.
