PRSB has improved how it presents its standards, making them simpler to adopt and easy to use. We have produced an information model that describes who made the record entry or carried out the activity, where and when, known as provenance data. This information model simplifies how we include this data in our standards, which is essential but repetitive. Provenance data will now be referenced as ‘information type’. This will not change how professionals record this information in care records but removes repetition in the standards, making the standards much shorter and easy to use.
PRSB’s core information standard should be extended for use across five community settings in order to improve people’s care, a new report states. It calls for extension of the use of shared care record standards to pharmacy, optometry, dentistry, ambulance and community services, allowing healthcare professionals to have a complete picture of a patient’s care history to provide the best care.
Why do we need information standards? How do PRSB standards fit together? Who uses them and how is information displayed? Find out the answers to all these questions and more, from our new standards explained resource.
Members share views on plans for federated data platform
Better use of data to improve services and care is behind NHS England procuring a Federated Data Platform. This new and important development should be guided by advice and support from professionals and people, and PRSB is working with its members and NHS England to contribute to this work as it develops in the weeks ahead.
A Standards Partnership Scheme for providers
The Standards Partnership Scheme now offers workshops, implementation support and conformance services specifically for health and social care providers. It will help providers position themselves at the forefront of digital maturity and transformation, satisfying regulators and meeting local and national mandates. Contact Director of Partner Solutions, Rebecca Hughes, to learn more.
We are delighted to welcome the CIO Network and CNIO Network as the latest organisations to join our membership. As communities that link up clinical services, operations, governance and technology within health and care settings, it’s vital that CIOs and CNIOs are involved in the development of standards.
EMIS joins PRSB Standard Partnership Scheme
One of the UK’s primary suppliers of health software solutions, EMIS, has become a PRSB partner. We look forward to working together on developing, applying and improving PRSB standards to help deliver better health and care.
Delivering integrated health and social care is overriding goal of the NHS and social care system and shared care records are key to that. Our CEO, Lorraine Foley, led a thought-provoking discussion on the role of standards in integrated care at this year’s Care Show.
Unlocking barriers to adopting ‘About Me’
How can the About Me standard help improve the way in which we experience care? What obstacles do we need to overcome to ensure its successful implementation? Our blog post brings together the perspectives of a person using services and system suppliers to answer these questions.
