PRSB’s consultation flags need to improve information sharing to drive safety in maternity services
In January, the PRSB consulted widely with nearly 600 people using maternity services, professionals working with or in maternity services, and system suppliers, to help improve how information about health and maternity care is recorded and shared.
The public consultations highlighted the need to improve knowledge and access to information for users of maternity services and clinicians, to provide more joined up care, continuity of care from clinical teams, and cultural sensitivity. People also told us they had to repeatedly share their experience of miscarriage and stillbirth at each appointment during subsequent pregnancies, resulting in them reliving their distress and trauma.
We will soon be surveying people and professionals during the next phase of the consultation on the Digital Maternity Record Standard and will share the details on how you can contribute.
By aligning to PRSB standards, Epro plans to ensure its platform will be seen by NHS leaders as supportive of their staff’s workflow and the NHS’s efficiency targets.
CareDocs’ digital solution aims to improve the digital recording of care and looks to the PRSB to support their customers to comply with our standards and deliver high quality care.
We are delighted to welcome Healthwatch as our new member! Have a look at our Q&A with their External Affairs Manager, Rebecca Curtayne, to find out about their views on information sharing in health and care and the role of standards.
We are pleased to have joined the UK Health Data Research Alliance to transform future health by ensuring that data for research and data and standards for care are more closely aligned and make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing.
Are you working to improve activity data in general practice?
PRSB is working on a project to improve the data quality of activity data in general practice by making it easier to consistently record the mode and care-related activities in patient records. If you’ve worked on a similar project, we want to hear from you – contact us at info@theprsb.org.
Making shared care records work for urgent and emergency care
In our latest column for Digital Health Intelligence, Claire Jones, Clinical Lead for Digital Transformation in NHS England South West, explains how information standards can ensure that emergency care providers have the right information at their fingerprints to deliver critical care where time matters the most.
We are excited to join over 1400 digital health peers at HETT North on 28 February in Manchester, where our Director of Partner Solutions, Rebecca Hughes, will host a discussion around conformance and Data Protection and Digital Bill with Mark Hindle of Orion Health and Katie Thorn of Digital Care Hub.
We’re supporting the King’s Fund Annual leadership and workforce summit
The event will provide a forum for discussions on the changing nature of the NHS workforce, offer opportunities to redesign job roles and identify ways to adapt to future challenges in health and care. Our CEO, Lorrain Foley, will be representing PRSB on the day.
Our January Advisory Board focussed on the need for data standards to improve the prospects for women’s health. Members agreed that greater engagement with the public in how the NHS uses people’s data is needed. We will be asking members for feedback on the revised Digital Maternity Record Standard and a new project for the Health Foundation on the design and use of patient portals.
