"A true embodiment of person centredness” - Chris Graham on the About Me Standard
Putting people at the heart of care is core to Picker’s business philosophy and in a new guest blog, Chris Graham, Chief Executive of Picker, discusses using the About Me standard to understand people’s preferences and promote person-centred care, and considers the risks of not creating a culture of shared decision-making.
We have an exciting programme for this year’s AGM, focused on joined-up person-centred care, standards and connectivity, with something for everyone. The event will feature a keynote speech from James Sanderson, as well as a focus on the #CareAboutMe campaign and system-wide implementation of standards.
The #CareAboutMe promo pack is available now! Our aim is to ensure the About Me standard is ubiquitous across the health and care system, allowing all to share information about what matters to them in their care. Download a promo pack and help us spread the word!

Autumna now a PRSB partner
We’re delighted that finding digital solutions to meet the needs of our ageing population has impelled Autumna to the Standards Partnership Scheme. Autumna Managing Director, Debbie Harris, said “Our objective is to effectively overcome the societal challenges an ageing population presents, but only through more efficient links between health and social care can this be achieved. This is where PRSB standards are so critical.”
PRSB is showcasing its standards projects and thought leadership at HETT 2022, the must-attend conference for health and care professionals in September. Diabetes consultant and project lead, Dr Iain Cranston will be speaking on personal health technology for diabetes care, while our technology specialist Non-executive Director, Charlie McCay, will discuss data architecture and infrastructure, and PRSB Chair, Maureen Baker CBE, will cover patient safety in the digital era.
Offering patients access to their future health information
From November 2022, most patients with online accounts, such as through the NHS App, will be able to read new entries in their GP health record. The change supports NHS Long Term Plan commitments to provide patients with digital access to their health records. NHS England recently wrote to general practice staff to detail the need to prepare for this change and to outline the support available, including a GP practice readiness checklist and resources to help ensure access to online records is offered effectively, efficiently, safely and securely.
Integrating health and social care is top of the national agenda and PRSB Chair, Maureen Baker CBE will be chairing the Integrating Health and Social Care Conference on 15 September 2022. The event will showcase best practice from teams across the NHS and social care and provide a platform to meet and engage with peers.
