Diabetes Week 2025 took place from 9–15 June, raising awareness of the issues that matter most to people with diabetes and shining a light on what it’s like to live with the condition day in, day out.
We took the opportunity to reflect on some of our recent work to support better care and information sharing for people living with the condition.
Diabetes standard
Health and care professionals need timely access to information about a person with diabetes and the data from the medical devices they are using to enable them to provide the best advice and support. This standard supports information sharing between people and professionals across all care settings, including self management data such as continuous glucose monitors.
Young people with Type 1 diabetes are helping to shape how their health information is recorded and shared, through a pilot by DigiBete using the PRSB Diabetes Standard. The project tested the standard in the DigiBete app, which supports families in managing diabetes day to day.
The key to safer, more streamlined care? A standardised, digital system where all those involved in a person’s care, including the person themselves, can access and contribute up-to-date information. Watch our short film below.
The NHS is working to simplify how health and care data is organised through the new NHS Canonical Data Model (CDM), creating one consistent way to record and share information. This will make data more accurate and easier to use across the system.
PRSB is gathering feedback on how well the current CDM supports reporting in two areas: theatre productivity and equipment provision and we are inviting you to take part in one or both of our short anonymous surveys to share your views.
Please feel free to forward this to colleagues who might be interested. The surveys close on 11 July 2025.
