Advisory board update
Our work to develop standards for social prescribing and diabetes were among the topics discussed at the Advisory Board which met earlier in the week. Social prescribing link worker, Sarah Moreton, gave an update on the feedback from consultations to date on social prescribing and Ojaih Willow, spoke about the diabetes standards project and the benefits people living with diabetes and their care professionals are seeking from better information sharing.
Olly Carr from NHSX presented the data strategy Data Saves Lives and members offered a rich range of views about the importance of public engagement particularly with communities and groups locally to build trust and confidence in NHS use of data. Members said more emphasis should be placed on communicating the benefits of data sharing, articulating plans for reducing the burden of data collections in both health and social care, and ensuring that when data is repurposed the original context and meaning isn’t lost.
There is still time to feedback on the strategy as the survey deadline has been extended to 20 August.
