This month’s PRSB advisory board brought together a strong turnout and a packed agenda. We heard a compelling update from Stephen Kaye of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth), who outlined the urgent need to standardise electronic health records in ophthalmology. Published this week, the College’s position statement has been co-signed by PRSB, and we’re proud to back this important call for national action to improve data sharing and patient care in ophthalmology.
Colin Dunkley from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) also joined us to share progress on our joint work to standardise epilepsy data, helping to improve care for children and families across the country.
The meeting also featured an interactive session exploring the NHS’s upcoming 10-year plan. We invited our members to share their priorities, challenges and ideas for the future. Read our follow-up article below:
Did you miss our lunch and learn events this month?
Thanks to everyone who joined our lunchtime webinars in July, where we explored two important topics in health and care: the growing use of ambient AI, and how we can shift from treating illness to focusing more on prevention.
Both sessions sparked thoughtful discussion and gave us plenty to reflect on, from the role of high-quality data in supporting new technologies, to what needs to change to enable more proactive, preventative care.
If you missed them, you can now watch the recordings which are available on our website. We’ll be hosting more webinars in the coming months, so keep an eye out for more details.
Intersystems conformant with Core Information Standard
We're delighted to announce that InterSystems has achieved Level 2 conformance to the PRSB Core Information Standard. It's been a pleasure working closely with the InterSystems team through the assessment process, and we’re delighted to see their software system, HealthShare, meet such a high level of compliance. InterSystems also provided valuable feedback during the assessment, helping to inform the next version of the standard, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with their team.
This month, we spoke to Dr Steve Bentley, a Clinical Lead at PRSB with a long-standing passion for improving patient care through better use of technology. As a recently retired GP, Steve brings valuable expertise in health informatics and SNOMED CT, along with a problem-solving mindset shaped by years of hands-on experience.
